A new skill enhancement project has been launched for empowering people through active participation in art and cultural activities and to promote economic growth in the country through creative industries. Aik Hunar Aik Nagar (AHAN), a non-profit company working under Ministry of Industries & Production has launched the project titled "Improved livelihoods through creative industries in Pakistan". The project funded by Danish Centre for Culture Development (CKU).

The project activities in KP focused on Peshawar, Nowshera, Haripur, Mansehra, Mardan and Swat districts. The initiative will not only provide skill development and capacity building of selected beneficiaries but also ensures sample and linkage development during the project period.

The training phasese of the project having been initiated and will be completed by April 2016. Training phase will be followed by capacity building, sample development and linkage development phases. Regional Co-ordinator AHAN KP, Zahid Ali Shah said that the CKU-funded project will focus on 1,500 individuals including both males and females. He said that the initiative aims at building the overall capacity of targeted individuals so as to enable them to establish their own enterprise with the support of AHAN.
